So what sort of Christmas are you having? Nigella, Jamie Oliver or the blessed Delia? Whoever you choose to follow I’m sure you will add to their menus with favourite foods from your childhood Christmases regardless of whether they are fashionable or not.
For 228 people in Leeds their Christmas meal will be delivered on the day by the Leeds Meals on Wheels team.
Here are Janet and Christine of the Meals on Wheels team getting the van ready for the Christmas meals run. Even on Christmas day deliveries are made so that customers get a fresh, tasty festive meal on the actual day itself.
Eighteen staff will be delivering the Christmas lunches, between 11:30am and 13:45pm, to 228 homes.
Each customer will have already chosen their dinner from the Christmas menu:
Honey roast turkey served with pigs in blankets, thyme roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, sprouts, carrots , stuffing and gravy; or
Vegetarian option mushroom, leek and West County cheddar bake served with red cabbage and broccoli.
The meal is completed with Christmas pudding for dessert.
Tea is a sandwich served with a slice of Christmas cake.
For some customers the Meals and Wheels team may be the only people they see on Christmas day.
Fortunately, Meals on Wheels isn’t just for Christmas it’s also available other times of the year. Tasty, nutritious meals can be delivered directly to the door which also means at the same time customers are visited regularly and checks can be made that they are safe and well. Meals can be delivered as often as needed – one day a week or every day and these can be delivered 365 days a year – including Christmas. Give us a call on 0113 3783750 if you’d like to sign up.
