Leeds Learning Disability Customer Award Winners 2014 – Most helpful person of the Year

Most Helpful Person of the Year – John Murrell

John Murrell - Most Helpful Person

Criteria:  a person with a learning disability who is always ready to lend a helping hand and is someone who can be relied upon.

Watch this short video to see why John was nominated.

John is the volunteer recycling warden at his home in Cookridge.  Twice each week, with support from staff, John goes around all the customers’ flats to gather up their bags of recycled materials and put these out for collection.  John is a great advocate for recycling; he supports other tenants to recycle their rubbish too and it is through his efforts that other customers began sorting their waste.  Now they are all proud they are doing their bit to help the environment and keep their flats ‘green’ places.

More information about the awards is available here.

Well done John
