Leeds Learning Disability Customer Award Winners 2014 – Volunteer of the Year

Volunteer of the Year – Seamus Friel

Seamus Friel - Volunteer of the Year

Criteria: a person with a learning disability who helps at an organised event, helps care for someone or works in their local community without being paid.

Watch this short video to see why Seamus was nominated.

Seamus is a passionate and dedicated volunteer at Emmaus – an organisation in Leeds which provides homes to 26 formerly homeless men and women.  Since becoming a volunteer Seamus has increased his days, despite him having hearing and physical impairments.  The fantastic job he does is evidenced by the fact that he is the only non-resident who is trusted to go upstairs.

More information about the awards is available here.

Well done Seamus
